We recently hosted our Mommy-to-be Garden Tea Party event it was an amazing day! I feel so incredibly blessed to have met so many amazing women who provide support and resources to new moms here in the South Bay area! I was so grateful that so many of them took part in our recent Mommy-to-be Garden Tea Party event. I provided complimentary photos for the expecting mamas who attended and we had a variety of local resources here to provide information and support for new moms! Here are a few favorites from the photos provided for the beautiful pregnant mamas who attended.
One of my favorite hobbies is cooking, especially hors d’oeuvres and party foods! Back when I was in college and I was studying Fashion Merchandising, there was a culinary program on the other side of the campus. I used to wish that I could enroll in at least a few classes, but my severe egg allergy was too much of an issue to enroll unfortunately. So I watched through the windows during my breaks between classes.
I love to provide fresh cooked snacks for my clients (one of the benefits of coming to our studio which is right next to our house…you get to enjoy the benefits of being accessible to my little kitchen!). I spent an inordinate amount of time being pregnant over the 5 years that we were trying to have our own babies, so I know how miserable all of the pregnancy dietary restrictions can be! I tried to get creative and come up with some delicious snacks that would be healthy and suitable for pregnant mamas. For example, when I was pregnant, I was always craving goat cheese, which is not on the list of recommended foods for pregnant women. Instead of goat cheese on some of the crostinis shown below, I made homemade macadamia nut cheese!
Everything I made for the event was vegan (I was a vegetarian until I met my Texan husband lol), with the exception of the one tray of pumpkin molasses marinated steak and butternut squash cubes. I’m pretty sure my husband ate almost the entire tray of these lol.
Homemade pita chips are so delicious when they are fresh out of the oven!
My little potting table that we made makes a perfect beverage station when we host events here! I love making a variety of herbal teas and made some naturally sweetened lemon verbena iced tea for the party. Did you know that many herbal teas you find available for purchase contain hibiscus, which is not recommended for pregnant women to consume? I didn’t realize that for a few years and was shocked once I read that! For some reason, most caffeine-free teas that I have found all seem to contain hibiscus, so now I always make herbal tea from scratch for my pregnant guests. Anything fresh from the garden always tastes better anyway, and I only use organic gardening methods!
We were happy to include some amazing women with our event, all local South Bay area resources for new moms! I am so grateful for all of these women for coming to our event and helping make it a wonderful day.

Next we had Julie Young, who is from BabywearingLA – South Bay! She even helped me get both of my boys in a double carry after the party was over! I am going to have to post a pic soon on Instagram because I wasn’t even sure I would be able to do it! Babywearing has been indespensible for me as a new mom…I highly recommend any new moms check out a babywearing event in your area! BabywearingLA has divisions all over Los Angeles County.
